What this browser remembers

The site uses your browser's storage for your progress on Nixmap, your settings, editor contents, the state of the simulated machines and the playground, and any course certificate you made. That information is not uploaded anywhere. The site sets no cookies of its own.

Open any page on Nixmap, open the gear and choose Reset all progress to erase all of it. Your browser's site-data controls can do the same thing.

Visits

Cloudflare hosts this site and receives ordinary request information, such as your IP address and browser, when you open a page. The site runs no analytics.

Course certificates

If you made a certificate in the course beta, your chosen name, the date, and your castle's roof colour and layout are encoded into its URL. They are not attached to an account or saved in a database. Opening or sharing the certificate gives that URL to the website host and whoever receives it.

Comments, video, and outside links

Comments are provided by giscus and stored in a public GitHub Discussion. The articles load giscus when you open them. Signing in or commenting is governed by GitHub and giscus.

Some articles embed a YouTube player from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. The player loads from YouTube when you open the article, and YouTube's rules apply to it.

YouTube, Discord, GitHub, and Ko-fi links take you to those services, where their own privacy rules apply.
